How to D&D – Learn to Play
Does your student like to play video games? Do they like to read? Do they like to solve puzzles? Do they like to play pretend? If the answer to any of these is YES, then they will love learning how to play Dungeons and Dragons.
This fun and interactive class led by DM TaShaunna (T) is a great way to introduce new students to Dungeons and Dragons. Our short but exciting story campaign is custom designed to help students learn the rules and strategies of D&D characters and gameplay, making them feel comfortable joining other ASEP SoCal games or playing with family and friends!

Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game. Students take the role of characters and interact in a shared, imagined world. Our instructors act as the “Dungeon Master” who facilitates the game by being the one in charge of creating and managing the world, non-player characters, and other things the student’s characters interact with. When something is about to happen in the story, students roll dice to see if the action is successful or unsuccessful. Through imagination, planning, and a little bit of luck, a magical story comes to life with the students as the main character!
Reminder! Class information PDFs (including Zoom links) will be available on your confirmation page after successfully registering for classes. These can be downloaded from the confirmation page and saved for later. They are also located in your confirmation email. If you lose access to the PDFs please email info@asepsocal.org as soon as possible. Double check that emails from the domain @asepsocal.org are not being blocked or going to your junk folder.
